AdHocQ 4.0.2 Download (511KB)
You should also check out DashboardQ. DashboardQ uses a simple web-based approach to display reports and dashboards for database queries.
.Net Framework 4.0 Client Profile or later.
(The last version of AdHocQ for .Net 3.5 is AdHocQ 1.10).
For MySQL connections, you may need MyOleDB.
For Oracle connections, you may need Oracle Data Access Components (you probably don't need the version with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio).
When you start AdHocQ, it will try to communicate with the adhocq website to check for updates. Only your current AdHocQ version number is transmitted, and no information is stored. You can choose to block this http request with your firewall without impacting on AdHocQ's functionality.
AdHocQ now supports ODBC connections as well as OLE DB.
This is functionally the same as version 1.10, but targetted at the .Net 4.0 framework.
Correct file filter for SQL Server Compact Edition; skip columns which are unreadable to OLE DB.
Have a button to pop-up table information, rather than expanding it in the list of tables (this didn't work well for tables with lots of columns).
Have a 'Go' button on the table search, rather than automatically filtering (too slow if lots of tables).
Minor bug fix (could click Next and Test Connection at the same time).
When choosing tables, you can expand them to see what columns they have.
Minor navigation improvements, e.g. allowing you to choose which page to go back to.
Gives a warning if there is a possibility of an aggregate having inflated values due to over-counting (i.e. a fan trap warning).
Can perform aggregate functions (e.g. Minimum, Maximum, Sum etc.).
Can join multiple tables together.
Can specify queries directly in SQL.
Ability to save and re-use queries.
Some bug fixes (SQLServer connection string, thread handling).
Previous connections are remembered and can be re-used.
You can specify the sort order of the results.
A 'Show Query' button lets you see the SQL query; also fixes a bug (edited conditions weren't being deleted properly).
You can copy results to clipboard.
You can export the results of the query to CSV.
The results are now paginated.
Second beta, limited testing. Handles Oracle schema names, database access now threaded.
First beta, limited testing. Doesn't work very well with Oracle or large datasets. Only for the brave!
